How vTaps Work
When you integrate a vTap into your system, our vTap will receive a “copy” of your traffic, depending on your system, this traffic can be layer 3 packets or HTTP requests. Not only do the vTaps perform all the API Protect observability mode checks on your API requests, such as looking for misconfiguration, authentication anomalies, and attacks, they also continually maintain API definitions based on they requests they observe. These ground truth API definitions are automatically added to your API inventory.
